Why is Argireline called “Botox in a bottle?”
Argireline, also known as Acetyl hexapeptide-3 or Acetyl hexapeptide-8, is a peptide fragment of SNAP-25. Peptides are actually very common components of skincare products but this one acts in a fashion similar to Botox. While Botox needs to be injected with a needle, Argireline can be applied daily as a cream or serum.
How does Botox/ Dysport/ Xeomin/ Jeuveau work?
Botox prevents communication via neurotransmitters at the neuromuscular junction. Neuromodulator products like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau block signals from the nerve ending to its corresponding muscle. As noted above, neuromodulators require an injection into the targeted muscle tissue by an expert injector.
How does Argireline work?
We don’t understand fully how Argireline works as a topical treatment but there is data that Argireline can potentiate the effects of Botox. Argireline, by itself, can also create improvement in facial lines and wrinkles resulting from muscle contraction and collagen production. Most medical-grade formulations such as our W Skin skincare line will also help to hydrate or add moisture to the skin.
Which areas are best treated with Argireline containing products?
Areas with a lot of muscle movement seem to have the best results with Argireline treatment. These include the eyelids, frown lines, and forehead as well as any other areas that have fine lines resulting from repeated muscle contraction.
Does Argireline play well with Botox?
Definitely. Argireline has been shown to prolong the effects of injected Botox treatments.
Which skincare line has the best Argireline formulation?
There are multiple skincare lines that offer effective formulations of Argireline. What is most important to look for is a formulation that allows adequate penetration of the outer skin layer. Since Argireline is applied topically it must be able to penetrate the skin to be effective. Thus, the ability of the product to enter the skin layers is critical for success. It is also important to find a skincare product formulation that will hydrate and protect the skin.
Which W Skin products contain Argireline?
Refine, our unique medical grade eye cream formulation contains an effective concentration of Argireline. Contour, our specialty neck cream, also contains Argireline. Both provide effective concentrations of Argireline along with a moisturizer vehicle that plumps and hydrates the skin.
How soon will I see results?
The maximum benefit of all of our medical-grade skincare products will typically be seen within 1-3 months. Recent studies have shown that Argireline can reduce the depth of wrinkles by 30% after daily use for one month. Since the results are temporary you will want to continue using the products to maintain the benefit that you’ve achieved.
