Skin aging, gravity and sun damage create wrinkles, dark spots, saggy skin and an unhealthy-looking complexion. Additional concerns for those of us lucky to live in the Denver area in the higher elevations are persistent lip “smoker lines” and crêpe paper changes in the upper and lower eyelids.
What is Helios Skin Resurfacing?
While surgery can be used to lift and reposition the face and eyelid skin, imprinted lines and wrinkles and irregular pigmentation are best addressed with skin resurfacing techniques such as Helios. Dr. Weber is one of the few providers of this exciting technology in the state of Colorado.

What is different about Helios Skin Resurfacing?
We discovered Helios Skin Resurfacing (AKA Renuvion) during our search for the ideal lip line and undereye wrinkle treatment. Lip lines, affectionately referred to as “smoker lines”, are a persistent problem in the Denver area due to our intense sun, high altitude and outdoor lifestyle. We have traditionally used BOTOX, dermal fillers, ultherapy and fractional laser resurfacing to achieve moderate improvements in these lines. However, none of these treatments have achieved the “knock your socks off” results that we want to provide our patients.
In the Helios device, we’ve found a resurfacing technology that works safely at a level of the skin deep enough to smooth and fill those etched in lines. Further, the same device creates significant smoothing and tightening of the undereye, face and neck skin. While we typically recommend full face treatments to allow blending into the hairline, jawline and neckline, “spot” treatment of the eyes and mouth area are also possible.
We offer a complete complement of home care products to both prepare your skin for resurfacing treatment and speed your post-treatment healing. The treatment is performed by Dr. Stephen Weber in office with both topical and local anesthesia to anesthetize the face and eyelid skin. We also offer oral sedation to help our patients relax during both the numbing process and the procedure itself. Helios Skin Resurfacing (Renuvion) can achieve:
- Reduction of lip lines and “smoker lines”
- Smoothing and tightening of the upper and lower eyelid skin
- Reduction in mild lower eyelid bags
- Smoothing of facial lines and wrinkles
- Reduction in facial scarring
- Repair of sun-damaged skin
- Improvement in skin coloration and complexion
- Smoothing of skin texture
What is the “Plasma” in Renuvion?
“Plasma” is a state of matter that is created by passing inert medical-grade Helium gas through the Bovie medical generator. Renuvion is an advanced energy device combining the unique properties of cold helium plasma with radiofrequency energy. Helium plasma focuses radiofrequency energy for greater control of tissue effect, enabling a high level of precision and virtually eradicating unintended tissue trauma. This results in the ability to treat facial skin reducing pigmentation, lines and wrinkles while minimizing trauma to surrounding tissues and reducing downtime in comparison to non-fractionated laser treatments.
