What is neck liposuction?

Neck liposuction reduces excess fatty neck tissue, revealing the slim, refined neck beneath. For most patients, neck liposuction is fairly quick using local anesthesia with oral sedative medications. Dr. Weber inserts a small liposuction cannula through one tiny incision concealed beneath the chin or behind the ears, removing excess fat and sculpting a natural contour to the chin and neck. If skin laxity is also an issue, Dr. Weber will use a technology called Renuvion to tighten the undersurface of the skin to help “shrink wrap” the skin around the new neck and jawline structure.

Am I a good candidate for neck liposuction?

Neck lipo may be an excellent option if you struggle with fat deposits beneath the chin that have not responded to dieting or exercise. The best candidates for neck liposuction:

Have good skin elasticity because liposuction does not significantly improve sagging skin
Are in good mental and physical health
Are realistic in their hopes for improvement rather than perfection
Are usually younger, such as patients in their 20s and 30s

Neck liposuction recovery and results

You may experience swelling and tightness in the neck for a few weeks, but your discomfort should not inhibit your daily functions. After neck liposuction, most patients return to work in five days; however, it is not uncommon for patients to need a week-long recovery period.

To preserve the shape of your new neck and reduce swelling, you’ll wear a chin strap for the first week following the procedure. For two weeks after, you will wear it only at night.

Full recovery with no swelling can occur after one month, in which your skin will fully recover and allow you to show off your newly-restored neck proudly.

Unlike other neck contouring procedures, neck liposuction results begin working immediately, and you can resume your daily life and extracurricular activities without an overly long recovery period.

Neck lifts and liposuction are excellent choices to improve or restore your appearance. However, they are best suited for patients of varying ages and needs.
